A Million Minutes: Trailer
“A Million Minutes” is a family’s emotional attempt to save their relationship. As the video shows, the short time together that they allow each other is not always accompanied by good moments.
A Million Minutes: Plot
The dramedy “A Million Minutes” tells the story of the Küper family. Family father Wolf is fully occupied with his work for the UN, while his wife Vera works part-time and looks after their children.
The little daughter Nina needs special attention because the girl has learning delays. The special care for the child causes tension between the parents, who also argue in front of the children.
When daughter Nina expresses the desire to have a million minutes with her parents, Wolf comes up with the idea of traveling together and concentrating more on the family. That’s why she’s drawn to Thailand and Iceland.
A Million Minutes: Cast
For “A Million Minutes” the successful German actress Karoline Herfurth (“Wunderschön”) teams up with the “The Flying Classroom” star Tom Schilling. The duo takes on the roles of the married couple Vera and Wolf Küper.
The two main actors receive support from Joachim Król (“The Moving Man”) as Werner Küper, Ulrike Kriener (“Commissioner Lucas”) as Regina Küper, Pola Friedrichs (“A Bird Comes Flew”) as Nina Küper, Jónmundur Grétarsson (“Descendants “) as Jon, Godehard Giese (“Babylon Berlin”) as Dr. Finkelbach, Hassan Akkouch (“WaPo Berlin”) as Ben, Tommi Thor Gudmundsson (“Heart of Stone”) as Siggi and Hannah Herzsprung (“Babylon Berlin”).
A Million Minutes: Production
“A Million Minutes” is based on the autobiographical book of the same name by Wolf Küper. The story was adapted for the screenplay by Tim Hebborn (“Just Something Beautiful”), Malte Welding (“Love Again”) and Ulla Ziemann (“The School of Little Vampires”). Karoline Herfurth’s husband Christopher Doll (“Just something beautiful”) took over the direction.
A million minutes – which you have to be able to afford
“A Million Minutes” tells the story of a family that wants to escape the stress of everyday life. In order to avoid arguments, the Küpers travel abroad and spend intensive time together there. We experience the film primarily from the perspective of family father Wolf, who also wrote the book of the same name on which the dramedy is based. This gives us a predominantly “male” view of topics such as work-life balance, care work and mental load. The view of his wife Vera can be invaded behind. But “A Million Minutes” has an important message that we should all listen to, even if very few people have the luxury of clarifying their problems in this way.
