a more accessible watch would arrive very soon

A certification in the United States points to a new Wear OS watch launched by Google. This would be a more accessible model than the Pixel Watch 3, planned for the fall.

Like every year since 2022, Google should present, during the fall, its new high-end connected watch, the Google Pixel Watch 3. The watch should logically be positioned in the high-end segment of the firm’s models, on top of Fitbit watches. However, it appears that this isn’t the only Wear OS watch currently in development at Google.

The site 9to5Google has in fact spotted, among the FCC database (the American commission in charge of telecommunications), a new connected watch from Google equipped with the Wear OS operating system. However, until now, the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 were the only Google watches to benefit from this operating system. Even on the Fitbit side, recently fully integrated into the Google product catalog, the watches have their own system, Fitbit OS.

As pointed out 9to5Googleit seems unlikely that the product referenced by the FCC is already the Pixel Watch 3. The connected watch should in fact only be presented in due form in the fall and certifications are generally part of the last steps before the launch of a product, a few weeks to one or two months before their marketing, but rarely further upstream.

A Pixel Watch 2a or a new Fitbit watch

For 9to5Google, this still mysterious watch could be a Pixel Watch 2a, a more accessible version of the high-end watch launched at the end of last year. The watch should also only be offered in a single version with Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth connectivity. The specialized site nevertheless specifies that this hypothesis is “ unlikely » and that other information would have circulated if this had been the case.

Another theory would involve Fitbit. Until now, the Google subsidiary only offered watches under its own system, but, a year and a half after the launch of the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4, it could now offer a more accessible Wear OS watch.

Given Google’s calendar and this certification, we could find out more about this connected watch during the future Google I/O conference, scheduled for May 14. Traditionally, it is during this period that Google launches its more accessible models such as the Pixel 8a, expected on this occasion.
