Less than a year apart, a couple lost their two children after having them looked after by their maternal grandmother. Upset, the mother of the family demands that justice be done.
A nameless drama. Kaila Nix and Drew Shock, residing in Florida, USA, were parents of two children : Ezra, aged 16 months and Uriel, 7 months. Close to her mother, Kaila Nix was keen for Tracey Nix, 65, to spend time with her grandchildren. Today, she regrets from the bottom of her heart to have left the custody of her babies to her mother. And for good reason, she accuses him of having killed her children “by negligence”. When Kaila and Drew lost their son just before Christmas in 2021, they first thought it was an accident. Indeed, the grandmother had to watch the little boy but fell asleep on the sofa, while her companion had gone shopping. When he woke up, the lifeless body of the little boy floating in the pond near the house. Overwhelmed by the situation, she did not call 911 and practiced first aid on Ezra, in vain. While driving when she heard the news, Kaila crashed into another vehicle. Fortunately, she escaped unscathed.
The investigators in charge of this case called this incident “non-criminal negligence”. Even if the drama marked them deeply, Kaila and her spouse did not want to incriminate the old lady. They were however far from imagining that it could happen again with their second child …

After the death of their son Ezra, Kaila and Drew had no don’t trust Tracey anymore. They were careful never to leave their second child alone with her. But on November 22, 2022, Kaila decided to grant a second chance to his mother. During an appointment with the hairdresser, she entrusted him with the care of her 7-month-old daughter. Only two hours after dropping her off, she receives a call from the local sheriff’s office. He is then informed that Tracey Nix took her eyes off Uriel and the child was found dead in the car. Devastated, she could not believe that such a drama could happen a second time. In an interview given to WFTS-Tampathe mother of the family revealed that in “Being objective, Tracey needs to go to jail. As a daughter, it kills me to say it. As a mother, I demand it.” In a post published on Facebook in February 2023, Kaila Nix urges that “justice be done”, in particular by asking as many people as possible to share their story.
