Chromecast is one of the most popular and affordable ways to stream content from your phone, tablet, or laptop to your TV, and a new device could already be in the works at Google.
According to a report from 9to5Google, a new device identifier, “YTD,” has appeared in the code of the Google Home app, which is used to set up and manage Chromecasts and other smart devices. The device is listed alongside the HD and 4K models of Chromecast with Google TV, which are the latest generation of Chromecast devices working with Google’s improved version of Android TV.
The problem is that Chromecast with Google TV is not without its flaws. The device has been criticized for its lack of storage space, which limits the number of apps and games you can install. It also suffers from performance issues, such as slowness and freezes. Many users have been hoping for a hardware update to the Chromecast with Google TV that could fix these issues.

Google could soon launch a new Chromecast
The new device ID, “YTD,” could be a sign that Google is working on such an update. The device is treated as a Google TV device by the Google Home app, which means it is likely to have the same features and functionality as the Chromecast with Google TV. However, it could also benefit from improvements, such asmore storage space, a faster processor or a better remote control.
Of course, This isn’t the first time a new Google TV device has been spotted in the Google Home app. Last year, a similar device, “YTC,” was also found in code, and was even labeled as a “Chromecast with Google TV.” However, this device never materialized, and Google has not officially announced or confirmed the existence of a new Chromecast device.
It is therefore possible that the new device identifier, “YTD”, is just a placeholder or prototype, and that it will not be commercialized anytime soon. However, it is also possible that Google is preparing to launch a new Chromecast device, which could compete with other streaming devices, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K, Roku Streaming Stick+ or Apple TV 4K.
