a new “decent housing bonus” in the face of substandard housing

The National Housing Agency (Anah), which manages aid for the renovation of private housing, announced on Wednesday the creation of “My Decent Housing Prime” aid, replacing other aid aimed at reducing the unworthy habitat.

This system replacing the “Healthy Living” and “Serene Living” aid will allow support for work up to 70,000 euros at “60% for low-income households and 80% aid rate for very low-income households,” Anah general director Valérie Mancret-Taylor told AFP. It must come into force on January 1, 2024.

“We had an aid scheme which was complex and dual”

“We had an aid scheme which was complex and dual. (…) We unified it into a single regime, and to have the same brand architecture and so that the actors could find their way, we decided to call it My Decent Housing Prime,” explained Valérie Mancret-Taylor.

The reduction of substandard housing, which according to public authorities’ estimates concerns 400 to 420,000 private housing units, must be the subject of a bill expected before the end of the year.

Also new for MaPrimeRénov’

Anah, which will have a total budget of some 6.3 billion euros in 2024, will also launch on January 1 MaPrimeAdapt‘, allowing low-income households to adapt their housing to the loss of autonomy. It sets the objective of adapting 45,000 homes in 2024, and 680,000 in 10 years.

The obligation for owners of houses labeled F or G for their energy performance to use a support person before benefiting from MaPrimeRénov’, which was to come into force on January 1, is postponed to July 1, the company also announced. Anah. “We give a little time at the beginning of the year to absorb all of these developments,” explained Valérie Mancret-Taylor.
