More than 20 years after the original trilogy and 10 years after The Hobbit, a new Lord of the Rings film has been announced by Warner Bros., with some contrasting news.
The Lord of the Rings universe plans to make its comeback to the cinema in 2026. Faithful to the post, we have big names from previous trilogies including Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis. This will also take an extremely important place in this new project in Middle-earth, in more than one way.
The Lord of the Rings will soon return to cinemas, but…
With the original trilogy of The Lord of the Rings films, Peter Jackson and his teams have clearly left their mark on the world of cinema. However, the same cannot be said of The Hobbit trilogy, which was overall nice, but clearly not as striking. After the controversial Rings of Power series from Amazon Prime Video, Tolkien’s mythical universe plans to return to theaters in 2026.
Peter Jackson will act as producer. The question of the director therefore arises. Warner Bros. announced that this task will be entrusted to Andy Serkis. He will not only be behind the camera, but also in front of it, since he will reprise his iconic role of Gollum. Still in an early state, the next Lord of the Rings film should indeed be called “The Hunt for Gollum”. The objective of the film is therefore “ to explore stories not yet told » regarding good old Puant.
Both Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis seem very excited about the idea of working together again. Let us hope, however, that this new Lord of the Rings film centered on Gollum will not suffer the same fate as the eponymous game…
