In these dark times when video game publishers are racking their brains to try to find solutions to help the Ukrainian people. From today, Doom Slayer positions itself against the Russian invasion in an attempt to raise support funds for the Ukrainians. In a tweet, Doom II co-programmer and co-designer John Romero announces that he has developed a new level for his game in order to put it on sale to support Ukraine, but also the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.
One Humanity, a level to help Ukraine
“one humanity” is a new level for the 1994 version of Doom II created by John Romero himself to support the Ukrainian people and the humanitarian efforts that come to their aid. Romero therefore offers the possibility for players to help people in difficulty by simply providing this new level for Doom 2.
John Romero’s creation is priced at €5 and all profits will go to associations cited just before. It is possible to buy it directly on his personal site romero.com. According to VGC, no cost is associated with the design of this extension, so all of the income collected will be directly donated to these associations that help Ukrainians.
This is not the first time that we have seen the video game world support Ukraine. Earlier in the day, CD Projekt announced to stop selling these games to Russia and Belarus to support Ukraine. The Russian team from FIFA 22 has been retired by EA and the teams around This War of Mine have therefore donated all their profits to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
