A new Mafia would be in development at Hangar 13, and it would be a prequel to the trilogy

Shed 13 has definitely had a very complicated trajectory in recent years. A few days ago, we learned that Haden Blackman left the head of the studio, after having suffered the failure of the Codename Volt project, canceled by Take-Two last year. Kotaku investigated this departure and what was going on within the studio, to discover thata new episode of the series Mafia would be well preparedbut not necessarily a Mafia 4.

A prequel to Unreal Engine 5

The site indicates that according to its sources close to the file, Hangar 13 is currently working on a prequel to the trilogy Mafia. The project would now be under the leadership of Nick Baynes, head of the Brighton studio branch in the United Kingdom, who therefore replaces Haden Blackman.

The game would currently be codenamed “Nero” and would currently be in an early stage of development. The studio’s goal would be to develop this new episode on the brand new Unreal Engine 5, instead of using the engine used by Mafia III.

We will therefore have to wait a few more years to see if all this will materialize or not, but fans of the saga Mafia fingers crossed already.
