A new portable console could steal the spotlight from the MSI Claw

Known across the Rhine for its laptops, peripherals and accessories, the German Tulpar unveiled this week a portable game console with an Intel engine… just like a certain MSI Claw.

Intel Meteor Lake chips are making their way onto an additional portable console. After the announcement of the MSI Claw in January, but also the presentation of the OneXPlayer laptops, peripherals and accessories.

Unveiled this week during IEM 2024 in Poland, this console still remains quite mysterious. Images shared by Intel nevertheless allow us to discover a massive design, and a console at least as bulky as an MSI Claw or an Asus ROG Ally. However, the design of this console is interesting in that it is not the result of internal development at Tulpar. The manufacturer would have in fact taken over, under license, a design originally emanating from Chinese manufacturer Emdoor, known for manufacturing some of its products under a white label.

A new Meteor Lake portable console from Tulpar

As WCCFTech points out, we still do not know the precise technical sheet of the Tulpar console. That being said, it is possible to turn to the Emdoor EM-GP080MTL, its Chinese cousin, to find out more. The latter is based on a Meteor Lake H chip, configured to oscillate between 20 and 35 W depending on the power conditions and the performance mode chosen.

Emdoor’s small machine also benefits from an Intel Arc 5 graphics solution, which is capable of delivering a suitable gaming experience in 1080p, the native definition of the 8-inch screen installed on the console. The latter also adopts 32 GB of RAM in LPDDR5 and up to 2 TB of SSD in PCIe Gen 4, through an integrated M2 2280 strip. So many features that should logically be found on the Tulpar console.

Note that we also do not know the price of this new arrival in the sector of portable consoles under Windows, but there is still good news to remember: if Tulpar was able to take over the design of Emdoor to launch a machine in its colors, it is a safe bet that other consoles based on the same design will subsequently arrive on the market. To be continued.
