At the IFA in Berlin, the American manufacturer Shure unveiled its new high-end noise reduction headphones, the Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2.

As its name suggests, this new Bluetooth headset takes over from the first generation Shure Aonic 50, launched three years ago. It also uses the same design lines, but is advertised as offering better noise reduction while maintaining high fidelity audio quality.

In detail, this new Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2 features 50 mm diameter dynamic transducers capable of producing a frequency response of 20 to 22,000 Hz thanks to their neodymium magnets. The headset is also compatible with the Bluetooth audio codecs AAC and SBC, but also with LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive. It is also Snapdragon Sound certified, which means that it will be fully compatible with the wireless audio ecosystem set up by Qualcomm, provided that your smartphone is also certified.

Headphones compatible with USB audio

Like the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 or the Beats Studio Pro, in addition to the audio signal via Bluetooth, the Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2 is also compatible with audio via USB-C by connecting it to a source . The user will then be able to enjoy their music without compression with a quality of up to 32 bits / 384 kHz. A wired 3.5 mm jack is also integrated.

On the noise reduction side, Shure announces a new hybrid technology function taking advantage of the microphones outside as well as inside the hulls. A spatial audio function is also offered, both for music and for movies or podcasts.

With all these embedded technologies, however, the headphones are rather heavy with an announced weight of 340 grams, where the Bose and Sony models are closer to 300 grams. The Bluetooth 5 connection is supposed to provide a range of 100 meters. Finally, on the autonomy side, Shure indicates that its headphones can be used for 45 consecutive hours and that 15 minutes of charging allows use for five hours.

The Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2 headphones will be available only in black at a price of 399 euros in France.
