It’s confirmed, Amazon Prime is signing a new season for this spy series which takes up the idea of the original film.
The spy couple Mr and Mrs Smith will return for a second season exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video platform. After a first part released on February 2, this sequel will probably tell the story of a new couple.

Very well received, the Amazon Prime Video series obtained a score of 90% from critics and 70% from spectators on Rotten Tomatoes. The show created a surprise by adapting the 2005 film of the same name in which the couple was played by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (with Doug Liman directing). The series is openly inspired by the original feature film but attempts to distance itself from it. Particularly with the situation of the couple, both being assassins who do not know each other and who are obliged to get married. However, in the 2005 film, Mr and Mrs Smith have already been married for several years and are each undercover so as not to reveal their identities to each other.
New couple, new story?
Mr and Mrs Smith initially played by Donald Glover And Maya Erskine may not return for the next season. As a result, the state of the couple, badly damaged, during the final scene leaves little room for doubt. This does not mean that Donald Glover will not retain his status as executive producer for the continuation of the adventures of Mr and Mrs Smith. In addition, the actor recently announced that he is starting his world tour, also known as a singer under the name Childish Gambino.
Everything suggests that the two actors will not return and will make way for new actors to play the couple of spies. The series could then adopt a new format which would be to introduce a new couple each season to play Mr and Mrs Smith. For the moment, no date has been announced for this new season.
