A possible reboot of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio by SEGA

According to Bloomberg journalists, SEGA has embarked on the development of two reboots of its Dreamcast games, Crazy Taxi and Jet-Set Radio.

With SEGA announcing a Super Game lineup last year with the aim of building online communities around the world and expanding its revenue streams, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio could be the first two titles to join. . The first would also be already in development for more than a year and the publisher would aim for an exit within two to three years. It should also be noted that the two games were named in SEGA’s last annual report on a list of assets that the company wanted to update.

SEGA’s ambition is, moreover, quite clear regarding these Super Games. Update part of its software portfolio while drawing inspiration from the business model of Fortnite. Namely, free games available on all platforms, capable of uniting a large community and including a number of extras that can motivate in-game purchases. The goal being, as for Epic Games, to generate recurring revenue.

A project whose start-up is already underway since a third Super Game is currently under development at SEGA’s European studio. An FPS which aims to generate up to 100 billion yen (more than 720 million euros) in lifetime revenue through the content and services offered.
