The filming of the series “A Prophet”, adapted from the film by Jacques Audiard, has finally started in Marseille and Italy. Discover the name and face of the actor who will succeed Tahar Rahim in the role of Malik, as well as the rest of the cast.
First announced five years ago, the series adaptation of the film A Prophet finally went into filming on July 3 with an all-new cast and new setting.
A Prophet, composed of eight episodes and intended for OCS, will be directed by Enrico Maria Artale, to whom we owe the Canal+ series Django, and led by the actor Mamadou Sidibé in the role of Malik.
Shot in Marseille and in Italy, in Puglia, this new version of Jacques Audiard’s feature film, which won nine César awards in 2010, including Best Film and Best Actor for Tahar Rahim, is developed by the original team. .
Namely the creators and screenwriters Abdel Raouf Dafri (Mesrine, Braquo) and Nicolas Peufaillit (Les Revenants), as well as the producer Marco Cherqui (Les Sauvages), in agreement with the producers of the original film Why Not Productions and Page 114.
While Jacques Audiard’s feature film followed the journey of a young Frenchman of Algerian origin sentenced to six years in prison who fell under the thumb of a group of Corsican prisoners in Paris, this serial reboot will focus on Malik El Djebenna.
A “mule” of African origin incarcerated in the Baumettes prison who will end up crossing paths with another prisoner, an important figure in the local Franco-Arab community, who will become his mentor.

Alongside Mamadou Sidibé, who takes his first steps on screen in the role of the “Prophet” Malik, and thus succeeds Tahar Rahim, viewers of the series A Prophet will find Sami Bouajila (Natives, A Son), Ouassini Embarek (Athena, The Eddy), Matthieu Lucci (L’Atelier, Oussekine), Nailia Harzoune (Placed), Faued Nabba (Validated) and Moussa Maaskri (Stillwater, Les SEGPA).
