a quartet of Ryzen 7000 chips are revealed

AMD has leaked information about four of its upcoming Zen 4 desktop processors: the Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X.

Inadvertently, AMD has listed in its resource library four processors that it would have liked to keep under wraps a little longer. These are the Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X, a quartet of chips ” Raphael expected later this year. Announced last May at Computex, these new desktop processors will, let’s remember, benefit from the Zen 4 CPU architecture. PCIe 5.0 and DDR5, already adopted by Intel on its LGA 1700 platform and chips Alder Lake », launched at the end of last year.

For the moment, AMD has not leaked all the information that we would have liked to discover, but the firm reluctantly confirms the nomenclature adopted for its new range of CPUs. While waiting for more details through official channels, previous rumors shed light on the main specifications of these four references.

A string of Ryzen 7000 chips inadvertently revealed

WCCFTech reminds us, for example, that the new Ryzen 9 7950X is supposed to have 16 cores and 32 threadsagainst 12 hearts and 24 threads for the Ryzen 9 7900X, with slightly more modest capacities. The Ryzen 7 7700X, for its part, should rely on 8 cores and 16 threadswhile the Ryzen 5 7600X would make do with 6 cores and 12 threads.

Interestingly, the Ryzen 7 7700X hadn’t been much talked about until now. On the other hand, rumors had repeatedly mentioned the more powerful Ryzen 7 7800X. Anyway, the consumption of these new processors should go up to a nominal TDP of 170 W (i.e. 230 W in maximum consumption) for the Ryzen 9. We should however be between 125 and 65 W for the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5, respectively.

This relatively contained consumption could allow AMD to subsequently launch more muscular variants of these two series, with frequencies revised upwards… and a necessarily slightly higher TDP.

As mentioned above, these Zen 4 desktop processors will be launched somewhere in the fourth quarter of 2022. Presumably, AMD would first target performance enthusiasts by betting on its upcoming X670 and B650 motherboards. More affordable references of Ryzen 7000 processors and compatible motherboards would arrive later, early next year. The prices of the four CPUs clumsily unveiled by AMD should range between 200 and 700 dollars.
