The cheat is an element that ruins the gaming experience for many players. Indeed, what’s more annoying in an online game than being the victim of a cheat that completely destroys the immersion or completely ruins a ranking? Aware of this problem, Activision Blizzard now has a fairly foolproof method for punishing offenders on Call of Duty. It’s radical to say the least. But is this enough to put a definitive end to cheating during games?
Call of Duty: an absolute anti-cheat system?
Activision, known for its hit Call of Duty franchise, recently implemented an original and somewhat humorous tactic to combat cheaters. After various methods such as disabling parachutes in Warzone or disarming cheating players, the company is now targeting users of unauthorized tools allowing the activation of aim assist (aim assist) when using ‘a mouse and a keyboard.
According to the Ricochet anti-cheat team, as soon as security systems detect such behavior, the Call of Duty application automatically closes. No more complex tricks, the game simply stops. The Ricochet group specifies: “ Repeated use of these tools may lead to additional sanctions on the account. » In other words, repeat cheaters could see themselves suspended or permanently banned by Activision.
This strategy aims to ensure fair play for all participants. Aim assist is primarily an aid for console or controller gamers to compensate for the greater precision of a mouse. Although this new measure does not completely resolve cheating problems in Call of Duty (such as cheats allowing you to see through walls, the famous wall hack), this approach by Activision actively discourages cheaters. And it’s functional on Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3 or even Warzone.
The methods are ultimately numerous. Counter-Strike Global Offensive uses a community system called Overwatch. In this system, experienced players review replays of games where cheating is suspected and vote on whether the player in question is cheating or not.
