A wonderful Christmas present that arrived a little early … Two years after welcoming siblings of six children aged 7 to 14, Angela and Elliott Turbeville, gave them a big surprise by taking them to the courthouse to officially adopt them! In a documentary produced by The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Angela Turbeville explained: “They have no idea this is about to happen. They’ve been asking for two years, ‘I just want to stay. I just want to be adopted. ‘ Our little girl wrote her Christmas list and one of the things on the list is to be adopted. She doesn’t know Christmas is about to come early for her.

Already a mother of three, Angela Turbeville, a former teacher and tutor at a primary school, said the children had already been separated in different foster families. The goal was to bring them together under one roof in the hope of giving them a more stable future. “Their mother was a foster child, so we’re trying to break that cycle“, she said before her husband added:”It’s a good way to give these kids a chance to succeed. While their friends and neighbors admire their decision to take in six more children, the father jokingly revealed: “I always tell people, we’ve had three, so what does that change a few more?“Satisfied, Angela Turbeville added:”For me, it is a dream come true to be able to adopt children. I hate that they were in foster care, but at least we can give them a good life.

A priceless Christmas present

To adopt the six children, the couple hired a huge bus to the courthouse. The family’s adoption hearing was held at the Government Center in Columbus, Georgia, chaired by Superior Court Judge Maureen Gottfried. In the documentary, the judge explained: “It’s just a really, really, happy day. I am so happy that you are all here to celebrate this because it is truly a celebration of a bad situation that turns out well.

Moved, the children expressed their deep gratitude to their adoptive parents for not only adopting them, but also welcoming them together. One of them, aged thirteen, explained: “For it to happen before Christmas, now is the perfect time. I’m just amazed and excited because we’ve been waiting for this for a long time. We have been through a lot of things that shouldn’t have happened. Our parents should have taken care of us. But now we have these parents who really take care of us and feed us every day.“Finally, he added:”It’s really rare. They took this chance to get us all. I thank them – and I thank God – for that.
