“A real gigantic and powerful film”: a great director gives his opinion on Avatar 2

While “Avatar: The Way of the Water” has been in theaters since Wednesday, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro recently gave his opinion on James Cameron’s film, and he is ecstatic!

After 13 years of waiting, Avatar: The Way of the Water, the second opus of the saga signed James Cameron, finally landed in dark rooms this Wednesday, December 14.

While everyone can now give their opinion on this 3:12 epic, the Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, who had had the chance to discover the film long before its release, once again spoke about it.

Come to talk about his Pinocchio (recently released on Netflix), the director of Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim thus recalled all the good he thought of this new Avatar at the microphone of AP-Entertainment :

“It’s an amazing movie”did he declare. “When I saw it, I realized that it had been ages since I had seen a film, a real gigantic and powerful film, which entertained me, moved me, and showed images that I couldn’t even have dreamed of.”

Dithyrambic and totally won over by the experience offered by James Cameron, Del Toro also shared his point of view as a filmmaker, saying that certain sequences of the film – and in particular in its last part – were extremely complex:

“Artistically and technically, it’s such a beautiful and complex film! If you told me that I had the choice between shooting one of the last sequences of this film, or losing my life, I would already prepare my coffin. Because It’s amazing, it’s breathtaking.”

If you have already discovered Avatar: The Way of the Water in the cinema, you probably know what sequence Del Toro is talking about. Do you agree with him? What is your opinion on James Cameron’s film?
