A Renaissance deputy suggests the dissolution of LFI, mélenchonistes and Faure are indignant

Several elected LFI, as well as the boss of the PS, Olivier Faure, were moved on Tuesday by the suggestion of a Macronist deputy to dissolve La France insoumise, on the model of the dissolution procedure initiated the day before against the far-right party Civitas for anti-Semitism. “And the dissolution of LFI to fight against anti-Semitism, it’s an idea too, isn’t it?”, published on the social network “X” (formerly Twitter) the Renaissance deputy Caroline Yadan, accompanying her message with a winking emoji.

LFI deputies are indignant

On the same network, LFI MEP Manon Aubry was indignant at this “conception of democracy”, wondering “where are all the defenders of the Republic”. “They wrap themselves in the clothes of great democrats, but walk together towards the reactionary arc, that of the single party”, added the Mélenchonist deputy Thomas Portes. Aymeric Caron, LFI deputy for Paris and neighbor of Caroline Yadan’s constituency, further denounced that his macronist colleague “constantly instrumentalizes the fight against anti-Semitism to smear his political opponents”, calling it “a shame for the political life of this country”.

The First Secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, also came to the defense of the Insoumis, by questioning the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and the President of the Renaissance group in the hemicycle, Sylvain Maillard, by warning them against their “silence” which, according to him, would endorse the words of Caroline Yadan. The latter’s controversial message was published after Gérald Darmanin announced that he was initiating proceedings to dissolve the far-right party Civitas for anti-Semitism. Unusually, Jean-Luc Mélenchon then gave the Minister a thumbs up, welcoming “the clear answer” given by the Minister of the Interior.

“Magnificent recovery and great attempt at customs clearance”, quipped Caroline Yadan in her same message, while La France Insoumise and Jean-Luc Mélenchon regularly face accusations of anti-Semitism, in particular brought by their political opponents. In mid-July, the president of the representative council of Jewish institutions in France (Crif) Yonathan Arfi had thus accused the unsuccessful triple presidential candidate of “committing himself far from the republican pact”, considering that “the spokespersons of France rebellious (were) more part of the problem than the solution”.
