WASHINGTON (Reuters) – “This is a sad day for the Supreme Court and the country,” U.S. President Joe Biden said after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v Wade ruling that paved the way for legalization. abortion in the United States.

“I am convinced that Roe vs. Wade was a constitutional decision,” added the head of the White House during a televised address, believing that the Supreme Court vote set the United States back 150 years.

He lamented a “dramatic error” by the Supreme Court, which he said “criminalized abortion”, and called on Americans to elect Democratic representatives and senators in midterm elections in November in a bid to restore the right to abortion at the federal level.

“Personal freedoms are in the ballot box,” added Joe Biden. “Congress must act… The fight is not over.”
