A shallow washing machine from TCL, the FF0814SD0FR

When we quote TCL to Digital, it is often a question of television. And yet, the manufacturer also produces large household appliances, including washing machines. The FF0814SD0FR is one of them.

The mixture between brown and white is not so original. Many manufacturers manage to reconcile the two very well, such as Samsung, Grundig or Philips. To these, we can add TCL, which already has a large catalog of televisions, but which also builds refrigerators, robot vacuum cleaners and washing machines, including the FF0814SD0FR.

This model is one of the models with a shallow front opening since it only reaches 52 cm in this dimension when the standard devices measure 60 cm. Be careful, it is far from being the most compact washing machine; the Electrolux Perfect Care 600 EW6S3624BX, also a porthole washing machine, makes it 12 cm and does not exceed 40 cm in depth.

Despite its small dimensions, the FF0814SD0FR has a 53 l drum that can accommodate 8 kg of laundry, if we are to believe the technical sheet. It’s a motor said brushless which is responsible for rotating the latter at the maximum spin speed of 1400 rpm. It should be noted that this type of component is intended to be more reliable, less noisy and energy-intensive than a conventional engine. Far from the most sophisticated devices on the market, the TCL FF0814SD0FR plays the card of simplicity and sees itself, for example, without an automatic dosing system like the one that equips the Miele WWV 980 WPS Passion.

Given this relative sobriety, the control panel of the FF0814SD0FR seems relatively easy to master. Like that of the majority of the other washing machines in our comparison, it relies on the combination of a wheel (to choose the basic cycle) and buttons to modify the parameters such as the water temperature or the spin speed. An electronic display with segments informs the user about the options of the program thus set up. It should be noted that, unlike many manufacturers who have taken the digital turn, TCL did not consider it useful to pair the FF0814SD0FR with a smartphone to program it remotely, monitor water or electricity consumption, or carry out a initial diagnosis in the event of a malfunction.

Launched at €399, you can get the FF0814SD0FR for €350 without difficulty.
