La Poste will put on sale on April 5 a stamp specially published for the Paris Olympic Games and printed in 800,000 copies, the Olympic organizing committee and La Poste announced on Tuesday.
It is in the colors of the graphic charter of the Olympic Games, pastel pink and green in particular, and has a “neo-art deco look”, according to the Cojo. The Eiffel Tower and the Seine are represented.
“This official stamp celebrates the Olympic spirit and immortalizes this great event in our collective history,” declared Philippe Wahl, president and CEO of the La Poste group, quoted in the press release.
Stamps had been issued since the Athens Olympics in 1896, the first of the modern era. There were also some for the Paris Games in 1924.
