Hellblade 2 will be the next big Xbox exclusive that could well turn heads. Including on PS5 at launch? This is the new rumor of the last few hours…
During the Xbox Developer Direct on Thursday, January 18, 2024, Microsoft highlighted Hellblade 2 again to announce the release date on Xbox Series X|S and PC. An exclusivity which will be available from May 21, 2024, and which will be the manufacturer’s first real big cartridge of the year. Suffice to say that it is highly anticipated, especially after a previous game that was certainly imperfect, but which offered a remarkable experience on certain points such as the incredible soundscape. But could Ninja Theory’s game have a destiny like Sea of Thieves or Grounded?
Already a PS5 version of Hellblade 2 in the works?
For this first quarter of 2024, Microsoft has decided to further accentuate its multiplatform strategy by bringing Xbox exclusives to PS5 and Nintendo Switch. No Halo or Gears of War games yet, but Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush as well as Pentiment. Could Xbox distribute other cartridges, in the short or medium term, to competitors like Hellblade 2? This is a rumor that has been circulating on the Web for a few hours. According to YouTuber Riskit4TheBiskit, who cites his own sources, there is indeed a PS5 version in development… or not! Following this statement, Jez Corden of Windows Central, who has tended to be right about Xbox and Microsoft, spoke out to deny this rumor.
In response to a tweet that relayed this rumor, Corden said: “I can confirm that at this time, this is completely false” (via X). According to him, there is therefore no PS5 version of Hellblade 2. Therefore, there is no point in waiting for a surprise announcement soon. But if the reviews are good and Microsoft sees sales potential, then perhaps this sequel will be ported to PlayStation 5, like the more “minor” games (emphasis on the quotes) mentioned above.
Hellblade 2 will therefore be a real Microsoft exclusive, available on Xbox Series X|S and PC from May 21, 2024, and promises to be another treat for the ears. On the other hand, bad news if you are very attached to the boxes, because a physical edition of the game is not on the agenda. To see if this will change or not in the coming months.
