On December 28th, Christof Gubler, owner of the walnut plantation in Frauenfeld Ost, went to the field to do some work. There he discovers several knocked down trees, tire tracks and vehicle parts on his property. According to Gubler’s statements, the driver was certainly not driving: “Either someone had an epileptic seizure or was definitely drunk on the road.”

According to Gubler, the tire tracks indicate that the person driving from the direction of Felben-Wellhausen was driving under the bridge and straight into the facility.

Reward for hints

Like the «St. Galler Tagblatt »reports, the vehicle is likely to have driven over the cycle path at high speed. “If a cyclist had been on the way at that time, he or she would definitely not have survived,” says Gubler.

The damage incurred, including the loss of income, is around 6,000 francs. Gubler is now happy for any hint. Both for the harm and also for the protection of the population. “We would like to reward information that leads to the perpetrator with a total of CHF 1,000,” he says.

Found auto parts suggest a silvery Audi. According to Gubler, the car passed under the irrigation pipe, so it is likely not an off-road vehicle.

Withdrawal of the ticket is imminent

The Thurgau canton police confirmed that a car drove through the tree plantation. Such or similar occurrences should occur again and again. “If you move away from the scene of the accident without taking care of the damage that has occurred, it is a violation of duty after a traffic accident,” says Michael Roth, media spokesman the Cantonal Police Thurgau, compared to 20 minutes.

The investigation is in full swing. “The auto parts found are currently being examined and an attempt is being made to determine the type of vehicle,” said Roth. No information about the driver is known yet. He or she faces a fine and the withdrawal of the driver’s license.
