Without warning, LEGO has just announced one of its most beautiful sets ever released. A construction from a totally legendary series for an entire generation.
The LEGO releases and announcements are such that we no longer really know where to turn. Especially when we fall into it, we want to continue buying sets to display them, before realizing that we no longer have space. But the damage is already done! What’s more, the Danish firm has this unfortunate tendency to design sets based on iconic licenses, which can quickly make you spend hundreds of euros seemingly for nothing. And the next set is one of them. Hang in there, we’re going back to 1992.
A new LEGO 76271 set that is so beautiful and essential
LEGO knows how to speak to long-time fans of colorful bricks, or those who have dabbled in it with franchise sets that speak to them. This month, the firm launched new Star Wars, Harry Potter, Disney Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Animal Crossing and Spider-Man constructions. And here, again, a new set on one of the most popular superheroes is arriving in just a few weeks.
After the Batmobile (76139) and the Batwing from 1989 (76161), the Tumbler (76240) or the big Batcave The Shadow Box (76252), LEGO presents a replica of Gotham City from Batman: The Animated Series from 1992. A cult work from home, even after decades. The result is superb, and although the dimensions are large, the company has thought of smaller interiors. Indeed, the particularity of the LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City (76271) set is that it can be hung on the wall. It is therefore a painting, but very different from those on the Dark Knight or Joker which took up the DC comics. Here, there is depth and real elements, which correspond to the buildings of the city to be assembled.
The new LEGO Batman set is also modular. Pieces can thus be removed to see the interior of Wayne Manor, the Batcave or Arkham Asylum and other things. A bit like the lair of the masked vigilante after all. This construction is made from 4,210 bricks and measures up to 76 cm wide. In the box, there are four minifigures (Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn and Catwoman), as well as miniature replicas of Batou’s vehicles. LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City will be available from April 4, 2024.
