A TikTok challenge costs the life of a 13-year-old who literally wanted to hallucinate


Jacob Stevens, a 13-year-old teenager, died following a challenge made on TikTok. Prior to his death, he had taken a drug in an attempt to hallucinate.

The TikTok challenge turned tragic. Jacob Stevensa 13-year-old boy from Ohio wanted to try to raise the “Benadryl challenge” with his friends. This challenge, very dangerous for health, consists in consume Benadryl in large quantities. It is an antihistamine medicine, normally prescribed to fight against allergies, which can induce vivid hallucinations in case of overdose.

Determine to film himself testing the effects of this drug, the young teenager would have ingested between 12 and 14 pills while he was at home with friends. A dose that corresponds to six times the recommended dose. Quickly, Jacob Stevens made an overdose and was taken from seizures before being rushed to hospital, as reported by the channel ABC 6.

Once in the hospital, Jacob Stevens’ parents learned that their son couldn’t make it. “It was too much for his body… They told us we could keep him on a ventilator, but he would never open his eyes, breathe, smile, walk or talk again“said his father, devastated.

Determined to campaign for the memory of their son, the parents of the teenager have asked to share in mass the photos of the young boy before and after his accident. They now want a age restriction with identity card is imposed on social networks and that the sale of Benadryl be much more strict and controlled.
