a very big free game is coming soon, fans will be happy!

Usually, it’s Steam that offers free games to its users, just to give them a small gift and to increase the loyalty of the troops. But next month, it’s a free game that will offer itself to Steam. And it’s not just any game.

On Steam, free games are legion. Between the multi-day trials and the games offered regularly, there is plenty to do. But there are also free-to-play titles that can be played without paying a penny. And it is precisely one of the biggest free-to-play successes of recent years which will land next month on the most famous of platforms.

A new big free game is coming in August!

From August 10, Steam users will indeed be able to get their hands on Overwatch 2. Blizzard’s big FPS was released at the end of 2022 on all media. After a chaotic launch and a good number of hiccups that forced it to review its season pass, its seasons and more generally its rewards, the game is running quite well and has found its audience. Only here, so far, Overwatch 2 was only available on Blizzard’s platform, Battle.net. A launcher that obviously is no longer enough for Activision Blizzard since the platform’s games will gradually arrive on Steam, Overwatch 2 on your mind.

In a statement, Blizzard says things have changed for the company. “As we have evolved, so has the industry”he specifies before adding “While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and in the future, we’ve heard feedback from players who want the choice and ability to launch our games from Steam. So we’re happy to work with Valve to make that possible.” For current players, it changes absolutely nothing. Details are still lacking regarding features, but even using Overwatch 2 on Steam, you will still need to log in to your Battle.net account to access the game. We therefore imagine that cross progression will be part of it.

Diablo 4 soon on Steam? Possible !

It is therefore a further step forward for the firm which will soon find itself catapulted into the great family of Xbox Studios. Microsoft will indeed take its time, but the acquisition of Activision Blizzard should be validated soon. Times change, players change and so does the industry. Overwatch 2 will join Steam on August 10 and will therefore be followed by several other games. We imagine quite well that very big successes like Diablo 4, for example, whose season 1 begins today, will also follow the example of its cousin. For now, the next games have not been communicated, but things will change.
