a very good surprise for season 2

We have known for a while that season 2 of House of the Dragon should arrive in summer 2024, but recently Warner gave more details about the release!

House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, was a great success with 29 million American spectators during its broadcast. Obviously, season 2 is at least as anticipated. Knowing all the more that George RR Martin, the author of the books, loved the first episodes that he was able to see in preview, he found them “brilliant” and “powerful”. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until this summer to be able to confirm the feelings of the creator of the saga. However, good news, the series could be released much earlier than expected according to David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon a few months in advance?

As everyone knows, summer runs from June 20 to September 22, so here is the first release window of the second part of House of the Dragon. That said, David Zaslav gave some details in a recent statement: “For the next quarter, we will have Hacks and House of the Dragon, followed by DC’s The Penguin and the new Dune series. » Knowing that the next quarter in the industry lasts from April 2 to June 30, this only leaves around ten days of summer so that season 2 can be released during the summer. The release window is therefore significantly reduced from June 20 to 30, 2024.

Maybe the filming slowed down?

Of course, maybe David was giving approximate information and this is all just overinterpretation. Especially since the production of House of Dragon had to reshoot scenes recently. Although these additional shoots are the norm on projects of this scale, additional work may arise and push back the release. That said, these reshoots should only take a few weeks as stated by an internal source on Twitter.

These different clues give us a better idea of the release date of season 2 of House of the Dragon. But all this remains only speculation and no official announcement has yet been made. On the other hand, we had an official announcement concerning the release date of the second spin off of Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The series which takes place 90 years before GoT will be released at the end of 2025 on HBO Max.
