This Thursday, September 8, M6 should have broadcast an unpublished episode of the program “Nightmare in the kitchen”. That evening, the program carried by Philippe Etchebest was to highlight the establishment of a woman convicted in 2019 for scam. A restaurateur recognized by one of her victims.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, this Thursday, September 8, several channels did not hesitate to change their programming to follow the sad news in a special edition. Among them, M6 turned his evening upside down by broadcasting the film Elizabeth – Singular gaze(s) instead of an unreleased episode of Kitchen nightmare. Only here, the famous culinary entertainment presented by Philippe Etchebest had previously been announced via a trailer. Images that have not escaped Catherine Besson. And for good reason, watching the promotional sequence of the show, the viewer immediately recognized Isabelle, the woman who, eight years earlier, had stolen her motorhome. “I didn’t come back. It’s her. She dares to appear”declared the victim to the Free Charente this September 9. Indeed, the restaurateur from Argelès-sur-Mer, who obtained the help of Philippe Etchebest, had been sentenced in 2019 to four years in prison, two of which were suspended. The reason : it spotted motorhomes on the Le Bon Coin site, rented them, but did not return them at the end of the rental. The scam was estimated at around four million euros. Currently at the head of an establishment located a stone’s throw from the beach, Isabelle asserts the right to be forgotten. “I knew that by going on TV, my past would resurface. (…) I made mistakes, it’s true. Not everyone can be snow white. I paidand even heavily for what I did”she told the media.

Nightmare in the kitchen: the anger of a victim

On social networks, Internet users have also identified the restaurateur from Argelès-sur-Mer. “She was sentenced two years ago for theft and fraud, drove retirees to suicide and plunged many families into a bottomless financial pit. It is unacceptable to see this kind of person dare to show themselves in public”, commented on Facebook a woman whose parents had gone on television to talk about this case. And to continue: ‘They were on M6 because they were defrauded by these people, with damage estimated at 30,000 euros. Unfortunately, they were never compensated because these people were declared insolvent. A couple committed suicide for the same kind of scam.

For its part, as relayed TVMagazinethe M6 channel was obviously not aware of the legal past of the former scammer. “M6 and Studio 89 have learned that the restaurateur of Le Cauchemar en cuisine in Argelès-sur-Mer was sentenced to prison a few years ago. We are sorry for the victims. This person did not inform us of this sentence, and the criminal record we had was clean, relayed the site. And to conclude by emphasizing the mission of the star chef: “Philippe Etchebest, as always, has done everything possible to help this restaurant as best as possible. Through its foundation, the M6 Group has been committed for ten years to the socio-professional reintegration of people who have experienced a prison episode. This is the case for this person.” A real focus.
