While you probably still can’t get your hands on this PS5 that you covet so much, some take malicious pleasure in rethinking Sony’s console.

This is the case of DIY Perks, which has developed its version of the PS5 Slim.

A “Slim” PS5 only 2 cm thick

Officially available since November 2020 in France, Sony’s PS5 still cannot be found in stores. A particularly imposing “new generation” PlayStation, with a design that leaves no one indifferent. It is also the biggest PlayStation ever developed by the Japanese giant.

Historically, Sony has always offered a revisited version of its PlayStations, a few years after the launch of the initial model. We remember in particular the (very) small PSOne, but also the PSTwo, without forgetting the various models of PS3 Slim and the PS4 Slim.

As for the PS5, while waiting for an official version from Sony, it was the experts at the DIY Perks channel who decided to design their version of the PS5 Slim. For the occasion, the latter completely dismantled the original machine, and carried out numerous operations to assemble a “new” PS5.

Integrated water cooling

The result is particularly spectacular, with not only an incredibly slender PS5, but also a wartercooling system integrated into the whole thing. Concretely, the original ventilation system has been replaced here by a water cooling system, directly connected to the power supply.

Enough to allow this revisited version to display 13% lower temperatures with regard to the SoC, 45% lower on the memory side and 38% lower on the VRM side.

In terms of looks, this PS5 Slim (made from a PS5 Digital Edition) looks like a Blu-Ray player, with measurements reduced by around 78%. The console is only two centimeters thick, compared to just under ten centimeters on the initial model. Obviously, this is an experiment “for science”, and it will be necessary to wait a few more months to discover what the “real” PS5 Slim will look like, which we can acquire (we hope) in shops.
