Abbé Pierre: do you recognize the actor? The trailer for this biopic event will amaze you!

Abbé Pierre lives again in the guise of Benjamin Lavernhe! Discover the trailer for the biopic expected this fall at the cinema, directed by Frédéric Tellier.

More than 30 years after Winter 54, Abbé Pierre, a new film arrives at the cinema to tell the story of the life of Abbé Pierre: L’Abbé Pierre – A life of combat. After Lambert Wilson, it is Benjamin Lavernhe who takes on this major role in the cinema.

After the first photos on which his metamorphosis was already impressive, the trailer shows the immense work that the actor has done to take on the features of Abbé Pierre, from his youth until the end of his days, in 2007.

As he told us at the time of the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was screened at the close, “I really want the film to stay in people’s hearts. The goal is to open the blinders, to make them porous again in the good sense of the term, to the suffering of others and above all to never get used to the suffering of the other“.

And to add:I think Abbé Pierre’s legacy is great through Emmaus, through the work of the Abbé Pierre Foundation. And for a cinema film to take hold of this subject and turn it into a great romantic adventure film, a film on the history of the century and such an intimate portrait of this gentleman who is absolutely extraordinary, it is a way to continue the fight“.

The resident of the Comédie-Française has made a name for himself with the general public, in particular by being in the casting of the Sens de la fête by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, of My unknown by Hugo Gélin or even of the Speech adapted from Fabcaro .

The trailer also highlights one of the film’s important characters, Lucie Coutaz, played by Emmanuelle Bercot. She accompanied Abbé Pierre in his fight against poverty for more than forty years. Unwavering soul mate, faithful right arm and heroine who agreed to remain in the shadow of the myth, she finally enters memories with this film.

L’Abbé Pierre – Une vie de combats (previously titled Les Onze vies de l’Abbé Pierre) is directed by Frédéric Tellier (Goliath, Save or Perish, L’Affaire SK1).

Born into a wealthy family, Henri Grouès was at the same time resistant, deputy, defender of the homeless, revolutionary and iconoclast. From the benches of the National Assembly to the slums of the Parisian suburbs, his commitment to the weakest has earned him international fame. The creation of Emmaüs and the tidal wave of its unforgettable appeal in the winter of 54 made it an icon. Yet every day he doubted his action. His fragilities, his sufferings, his barely credible intimate life have remained unknown to the general public. Revolted by misery and injustice, often criticized, sometimes betrayed, Henri Grouès had a thousand lives and fought a thousand battles. He made history under the name he had chosen: Abbé Pierre.

L’Abbé Pierre – a life of struggles will be released in cinemas on November 8th.
