Absent from the Xbox conference, its release is postponed

There had to be some news to spoil the Xbox/Bethesda conference party a bit. This one is for the highly anticipated STALKER 2 which has already been pushed back once.

Fortunately, the GSC Game World studio was able to give good news 1 month ago about the safety of employees and their families. But in the context of the War in Ukraine, we can understand that the lives of a lot of important actors in the studio have been turned upside down. And so that delays have occurred on Stalker 2.

Stalker 2 will not be released this year.

During the Xbox/Bethesda conference we were able to discover an organization chart allowing us to see what the future holds for us in terms of gaming at Microsoft for the next 12 months.

As you can see above, the highly anticipated Stalker 2 is now officially scheduled for 2023. GSC Game World hasn’t said anything about it yet, and it’s not yet known if we’ll have any further explanations about the development and the reasons for the delay. Even if we can obviously suspect it a little.

Because in addition to the context of the War in Ukraine, it is a rather ambitious game which necessarily requires very special attention, especially when you know the expectation that there is for the Stalker universe. For the record, the game is planned for PC and Xbox Series initially.

Once again we obviously hope above all with all my heart that GSC can ensure the safety of all families and that everyone is safe and sound within the studio.
