First came his training at the violin making school in Mittenwald in Bavaria, then followed five instructive years as a journeyman in Thun, Switzerland. “My teacher was hard of hearing, but he knew exactly what you had to do to make an instrument sound good,” enthuses the Tyrolean, who was allowed to set up his own workshop for the first time in 1996 on Schlossergasse in Hall.
