Google’s upcoming Pixel 8a mid-range smartphone has been teased in a leaked official promotional video ahead of its expected launch at the I/O 2024 developers conference next month.
After revealing the design of the next Pixel 8a many months ago, OnLeaks has just lifted the veil on a promotional video for the Pixel 8a, which shows the smartphone in action. In this one, Google details the different AI features that the company plans to integrate into its affordable smartphone.
The various leaks already suggested that the Pixel 8a was going to be the first mid-range Pixel to offer AI-boosted features thanks to its Tensor G3 chip. Among them, Night Sight or Photo Unblur, and other options previously limited to high-end Pixel models.
What AI features for the Pixel 8a?
In the program, a feature called “Best Take” which appears to leverage AI and machine learning to help users capture perfect group photos. The promotion shows that it is possible to select the best facial expression and positioning for each individual in a group photo after taking several photos in rapid succession.
Another strong point is the expanded availability of the “Circle to Search” feature which debuted on the Galaxy S24 series before rolling out to Pixel devices. This makes it easy to launch Google searches directly from what is on your screen, on what your camera sees by simply surrounding objects or text.
The video also confirms that the Pixel 8a will include handy AI utilities like Live Translate for real-time voice call translations and Audio Magic Eraser to intelligently remove unwanted background noise from video recordings.
In terms of design, the leaked video corroborates previous renders by revealing a charcoal black and pale blue colorway for the Pixel 8a. With a launch planned in a few weeks at the Google I/O conference, the promotional video offers the best look at the smartphone yet, and you can watch it in full below.
