Absurd Ventures (Dan Houser) announces two new licenses, but no video game yet


Now at the head of the company Absurd Ventures, which presents itself as a creator of licenses to be enjoyed in different formats, Dan Houser announces that the public will soon be able to discover two new universes as well as their characters and their stories. One is called American Caper and will follow two normal American families and therefore “ seriously damaged » in a world of corrupt business, inept politics and senseless crime. American Caper will debut as a graphic novel illustrated by veteran Simon Bisley.

The other is titled A Better Paradise, an existential thriller set in the near future and will initially take the form of a 12-episode audio series produced with QCODE Media. Absurd Ventures will communicate more information on these new licenses in the coming months, but we know that both will debut in 2024 and that other stories drawn from these universes are in development for “ a wide range of formats and platforms », which should sooner or later involve video games, but also television and animation.

Remember that Dan Houser, 49, is the former co-founder of Rockstar Games and the producer of all the studio’s games in addition to having been the main screenwriter until the announcement of his departure in March 2020. other former Rockstar Games bigwigs have joined the project, such as executive producer Lazlow Jones (since June 2021) and head writer Michael Unsworth (since October 2023) who spent 19 years and 16 years respectively at Rockstar Games.

Absurd Ventures is the second company founded by a former Rockstar Games executive after producer Leslie Benzies’ Build a Rocket Boy studio, which for its part focused on the Everywhere community platform.
