After the revelations of an investigative journalist on cases of abuse in nursing homes of the French group Orpéa, the government decided to act.
In his book “Les Fossoyeurs” (Ed. Fayard), the journalist Victor Castenet documents, with supporting testimony, serious breaches of hygiene and well-being of the elderly who reside in different nursing homes of the Orpéa group.
The Minister Delegate for Autonomy, Brigitte Bourguignon, announced Tuesday evening that she had summoned “as soon as possible” the director general of the French group of private clinics and retirement homes.
For light to be shed on the serious facts mentioned in the book of @VictorCastanet, I summon the Managing Director of Orpéa as soon as possible, at the request of@olivierveran.
I have a heartfelt thought for the residents of#EHPAD, their families and professionals.

The minister thus wishes to shed light on the “serious facts” mentioned in Victor Castanet’s investigation. “Les Fossoyeurs”, published this Wednesday and whose good sheets were published in Le Monde, describes establishments in which care is reduced to a minimum and where hygienic protection is rationed.
The giant Orpéa, world leader in the EHPAD sector, indicates that it has seized its lawyers to give “all the follow-ups, including on the legal level”, to the publication of the book in order “to restore the truth of the facts”.
