The 51-year-old local was busy with renovation work on the artificially created “Icegate” waterfall in the Taschach Gorge on Wednesday afternoon. He was equipped with crampons and a hip belt. The alpinist, who was not secured at that moment, fell around 3.30 p.m. for an unknown reason in a free fall of about twelve meters into the icy stream bed of the Taschachbach. The seriously injured climber was flown to the hospital by emergency medical helicopter after receiving first aid from the Innerpitztal mountain rescue team The “Alpin 2” emergency doctor helicopter was flown to the Innsbruck clinic. Nothing is currently known about the man’s health.
