- The truce in fighting between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Friday November 24 at 7 a.m. local time (6 a.m. Paris time), and 24 hostages were released: thirteen Israelis, ten Thais and one Filipino. Among the Israeli hostages are four children, including one aged 2, and six women over 70 years old.
- Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, said that he and his government were “determined to bring back all [les] hostages » in the hands of Hamas. The army estimates the number of people kidnapped by the armed Islamist movement on October 7 at around 240.
- Thirty-nine Palestinian prisoners, women and minors, were released from prison on Friday by Israeli authorities in exchange for Israeli hostages released by Hamas, the Prisoners’ Club, an NGO which defends Palestinian prisoners, reported to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Friday, confirming an announcement from Qatar earlier in the day.
- The agreement reached Wednesday between the Israeli government and the Islamist group provides for the exchange of fifty women and minors detained by Hamas against Palestinian prisoners, as well as“a lull in the fighting” for four days.
- France welcomed the release of the first hostages in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “France is mobilized for the release of French hostages within the framework of the agreement currently being implemented”, insists the short text. The latter also recalls the wish expressed on several occasions by Minister Catherine Colonna for a truce “sustainable, sustained”until “bring to a ceasefire”.
- The truce allowed the entry into the Gaza Strip of 200 humanitarian aid trucks, four gasoline trucks and four gas tanks ” for the kitchen “, Cogat, the body of the Israeli Defense Ministry supervising civilian activities in the Palestinian territories, said Friday evening.
- The Hamas government announced Wednesday that 14,854 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombardments on Gaza since the start of the war. Among the deaths recorded to date are 6,150 children, the Hamas government said. In addition, 36,000 people were injured, according to the same source.
