According to the minister – personal responsibility as a solution to bottlenecks

If the ÖVP has its way, the energy crisis should be mitigated with common sense. Not all Salzburg parties see it that way.

In view of the energy crisis, Chancellery Minister Karoline Edtstadler (ÖVP) wants to “fulfill personal responsibility with life”. You have to use common sense and avoid unnecessary speed in the car or too low temperatures in the air conditioning. The Salzburg parties see things a little differently. For Neos boss Andrea Klambauer, the debate about the speed on the motorway in Salzburg is not a big issue, “because the air raid protection hundred applies to most motorways”. But: “The federal government has to admit how dependent they have made us on the Putin gas.” Josef Scheinast (Greens) sees politics and the population as having a duty. “Politics can’t do anything without the population, we have to help together.” However, he would advocate a slower speed limit. SPÖ leader David Egger is calling for the further expansion of the transport network – and for making the super-rich and their private jets more responsible. Marlene Svazek (FPÖ) does not spare criticism either: “Instead of fuel price brakes and a cap for the electricity price, there are cheap excuses and advice from a minister who is far removed from the reality of most people’s lives.”
