Iran and Taliban reportedly arrest Mossad agents

According to media reports, three Mossad agents were arrested in an operation in the mountainous border region between Iran and Afghanistan. The Iranian secret service is therefore working with the Taliban.
Iran and the Taliban ruling Afghanistan have arrested three suspected Mossad agents, according to state media reports. Iran’s state news agency Irna reported on Telegram that the alleged agents had been tracked down in an intelligence operation in the mountainous border region of neighboring countries. It is the first time that such a collaboration has been reported. There was initially no confirmation of the operation from the Taliban.
There are repeated reports from Iranian state media about arrests of alleged agents and operations against the Israeli foreign secret service Mossad. The information cannot be independently verified. Israel has been considered the arch-enemy of the Islamic Republic since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. According to Irna, the suspected agents are accused of planning drone attacks on targets in Iran. The accused are said to have Iranian citizenship and will soon be extradited to Iran for questioning.
The Taliban have been back in power in Afghanistan for more than two years. So far, no state has officially recognized the Islamist government, not even Iran. The neighboring countries share a border that is more than 900 kilometers long and had recently discussed possible cooperation, for example in the area of trade.
Last week, former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen told the Jerusalem Post that all Iranians involved in the major attack against Israel must be identified. “I think we need to find every single Iranian from the Ministry of Intelligence, from the army, from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps whose dirty hands are directly and indirectly involved in the operation [am 7. Oktober] “We are involved and prosecuting them,” Cohen said. During his term in office from 2016 to 2021, Israel carried out several interventions in Iran, including the theft of the nuclear archives.
