Accusations of racism in the royal family: two names revealed, the Palace fumes!

A controversy which has continued to be fueled since March 2021. It began following an interview given by Meghan Markle and Harry to journalist Oprah Winfrey. The actress based in Montecito notably reported racist comments, which were relayed to her, issued by close members of the Crown, about the skin color of her soon-to-be-born baby, Archie. Since then, several names of the accused have been at the heart of rumors, and in recent days, with Omid Scobie’s new book, End of reign, a new shock wave took place. And for good reason, the edition translated in the Netherlands seems to accidentally reveal the identity of two members of the royal family linked to these derogatory remarks.

The writer, close to Meghan Markle, defends himself, indicating that he knows the names, but never wanted to include them in his writing. On the other hand, Piers Morgan, a British journalist and television host, made a completely different choice. In his show TalkTV, he revealed the two personalities royals concerned by these accusations of racism. If our colleagues from Mirror chose not to reveal these names, they obtained Buckingham Palace’s reaction to Piers Morgan’s announcement. Thus, the official residence of Charles III made it known that she “consider all options”including legal action, against the British journalist.

Piers Morgan explained why he revealed both names

According to our British colleagues, Piers Morgan explained to viewers that he do not believe “that racist comments have ever been made by a member of the royal family”. Thus, he considered that the British people should be aware of information revealed by mistake in another country: “Frankly, if the Dutch people walking into a bookstore can find it and see these names, then you, the British here, who pay for the British royal family, you have the right to know too“. The Dutch version of End of reigna work written by Omid Scobie, was finally withdrawn from sale, while modifications were made to this passage surrounding accusations of racism in the royal family.
