The man, accused of having killed his wife during their honeymoon in Fiji, took the floor to deny the facts once again and ask for her release.
Bradley Dawson appeared in court on Wednesday. The 38-year-old man is accused of killing his wife on July 8 in Fiji, where they were spending their honeymoon. Once again, he denied the facts and demanded his release on bail, indicates the “New York Post”. According to him, Bradley Dawson’s mother would be financially dependent on her son and “mentally suffer” from knowing him in prison, which is why he should be released. His lawyers added that their client was himself in poor health and had been “prescribed certain medications” for which he would need to see a doctor.
Bradley Dawson would also have confessed to the crime for which he is accused during the first interrogations carried out after his arrest. He would have admitted to having been drunk and having argued with his wife on the day of the tragedy, to the point of coming to blows. When she was found dead, the victim bore numerous marks of blows, in particular one on the head. The autopsy revealed that 36-year-old Christe Chen succumbed to multiple traumatic injuries, including head trauma resulting in a cerebral hemorrhage. The man was arrested the day after their argument, on another island he had visited in a kayak. During Wednesday’s hearing, Bradley Dawson’s lawyers denied that their client made a confession. The latter also refused to sign the document which would contain these confessions.
A quick relationship
The couple who lived in Memphis had moved in together in the Cooper-Young neighborhood of the city, after the start of what was described as a “whirlwind romance”. A neighbor told TV that Christe was “thrilled” with the planned trip to Fiji to celebrate their honeymoon. A colleague of the victim told the Daily Beast that her love affair with the suspect was so quick that few people had met her partner before the wedding.
Kristen Baker, an ex-girlfriend of the suspect, agreed to testify with the show “Good Morning America” in early August, evoking the violent character of this man. She explained that around the time they met, “they fell madly in love, intensely and quickly.” But the relationship with Bradley Robert Dawson would quickly turn violent. “When I wanted to leave him, he pushed me onto the bed and chased me. He was very manipulative, verbally, very threatening and very jealous,” she said. After their final break, the man would have married another woman in 2019, from whom he ended up divorcing, before meeting Christe Chen, with whom everything went very quickly there too.
