At CES 2022, Acer is introducing three new Chromebooks with prices starting at 369 euros. The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is a convertible among the devices with Chrome OS.

Chromebooks are particularly popular with schoolchildren and students, which is also reflected in the often low price – with a few exceptions. With three new products, all of which will premiere during CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Acer is trying to expand the target group to include families and “hybrid working”.
Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CPh13-2H): Convertible with tablet mode
At Acer, the name Spin has long stood for convertibles that can be used flexibly. The Chromebook Spin 513 should therefore be a kind of all-rounder and combine professional life with everyday and leisure life.

Anyone who has previously relied on classic laptops may be surprised at the exotic choice of processor. The contract was not awarded to an Intel CPU, but to the MediaTek Kompanio 1380. The eight-core CPU is said to enable battery life of up to ten hours.
The display format is interesting for office tasks. Thanks to an aspect ratio of 3:2, the 13.5-inch display, which can be folded 180 degrees, shows 18 percent more image content, with the result that users have to scroll less.
Acer Chromebook 315: With a 15.6-inch anti-glare display
For a long time, Chromebooks were only available with relatively small displays. The new Chromebook 315 not only offers a 39.6 centimeter screen diagonal, the display on the IPS panel with its wide viewing angles is also anti-glare.

Other features include the latest generation of Intel Core processors, Wi-Fi 6, Full HD resolution, two USB-C ports and a battery life of up to ten hours. An SD card reader is also installed.
Acer mentions the touchpad made of so-called OceanGlass as a further special feature. It is made entirely from recycled plastic that previously floated in the world’s oceans. According to Acer, the touchpad is “smooth and responsive in use and at the same time contributes to the reduction of plastic floating in the sea”.
Acer Chromebook 314: Also with OceanGlass touchpad
The Acer Chromebook 314 also offers such a touchpad. The entry-level model is inexpensive at 369 euros and is aimed at students and families with children. The non-reflective 14-inch display optionally supports touch inputs.

The built-in webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) is designed to counteract poor lighting conditions when homeschooling.
Prices and availability
According to Acer, all the innovations presented should be available in stores from April 2022. The price of the convertible Spin 513 is not yet known. The Acer Chromebook 315 will cost 399 euros and the Acer Chromebook 314 will cost 369 euros in the basic version.
