PARIS (Reuters) – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player Achraf Hakimi was indicted for rape on Thursday evening and placed under judicial supervision, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office also indicated that the 24-year-old Moroccan international was prohibited from coming into contact with the alleged victim.

Achraf Hakimi could not immediately be reached for comment. But his lawyer had previously indicated that the accusations were false and that the PSG player was at the disposal of justice.

According to Le Parisien, a 24-year-old woman went to the Nogent-sur-Marne police station in Val-de-Marne on Sunday to make a statement of rape, without however filing a formal complaint. An investigation had nevertheless been opened.

PSG did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
