Actors’ strike: two big productions also stop filming

The actors’ strike is raging: “Deadpool 3” and “Venom 3” have also suspended their filming.

The actors’ strike, which broke out on Friday, has shut down many film and television productions in Hollywood. Recently, movies like Mortal Kombat 2 and Gladiator 2 have stopped shooting, since Screen Actors Guild (SAG) actors are no longer allowed to act in movies and series.

As ComingSoon reports, two other films, stamped Marvel, are today affected by the strike: two third installments, Deadpool 3 and Venom 3.

Directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy, The Adam Project), Deadpool 3 will mark the official debut of Ryan Reynolds in the MCU. On the poster of this third opus, we can also find Hugh Jackman who will finally come out of his superhero retirement to resume his emblematic role of Wolverine, but also Jennifer Garner as announced recently, as well as many actors seen in previous sections.

The news that filming will be halted comes days after photos emerged of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman performing a stunt, both in costume. Ryan Reynolds also shared a final snap from filming, on Threads, just before operations shut down.

As it concerns Venom 3, production on the Sony/Marvel film began in Spain at the end of June under the direction of Kelly Marcel, who also wrote the screenplay. This third installment will again feature Tom Hardy alongside, this time, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Having grossed a total worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion, the first two Deadpools were box office hits. It remains to be seen whether the long-awaited sequel, and now stamped Marvel, will equal or surpass its predecessors. The previous parts of Venom, them, are not left out and reported no less than 1.36 billion dollars internationally.

If no official release date had yet been announced for Venom 3 – although it was rumored to be October 2024 –, Deadpool 3he was to be released on May 1, 2024, a date that will surely have to change if the strike continues.

While waiting to find out more, find the first two Deadpool and the first Venom streaming on Disney +. Let There Be Carnage, the second installment of Venom, is available on Amazon Prime Video.
