ADAC warns of traffic jams on the second weekend in August

The main wave of travel is over – but according to the ADAC, patience could again be required on German autobahns at the weekend. Because the summer holidays will soon end in Bremen, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, many drivers will probably be on their way home, the ADAC announced on Monday.

Due to the end of the holiday and the Assumption Day, there is a risk of new traffic jams

In Bavaria and Saarland, on the other hand, many are likely to have planned a long weekend due to the Assumption of Mary on August 15 – and use this time for short vacations. The automobile club warns that traffic jams can occur in both federal states, especially on Fridays. If you can, you should therefore postpone arrival and departure by car to the middle of the week.

High risk of traffic jams at Bavarian border crossings

The risk of traffic jams is particularly high at the Bavarian border crossings on Autobahn 3 between Linz and Passau, the A8 between Salzburg and Munich and the A93 between Kufstein and Rosenheim.

Vacationers abroad have to reckon with traffic jams, especially in Italy: Italy’s trunk roads are particularly heavily loaded this time. On the weekend before the Ferragosto holiday on August 15, many people were heading towards the sea there.
