Adam Sandler (57) is known to be a big sports fan, even if, as an American, he is naturally particularly enthusiastic about basketball and American football. But on Monday the Hollywood star cheated. In London he was seen at the Chelsea FC stadium. The actor kept his fingers crossed for the home club in the game against Newcastle United at the infamous Stamford Bridge. Before the game, he posed in the stands for a picture presented by the club also published on X (formerly Twitter).. “Good evening, Adam Sandler,” the photo reads.

Chelsea fan since a chance visit a few years ago
Monday’s visit was not the first to a Chelsea game. In 2009, Adam Sandler watched a game of the two-time Champions League winner. A good 15 years ago, the “Spaceman” actor saw an away game at local London rivals FC Fulham.
His guest appearance in 2009 was the first football game that Adam Sandler ever watched live. The visit came about spontaneously. Sandler was in London with a friend who happened to see an advertisement for the match in a newspaper. This Sandler revealed to a London radio station at the time.
Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0. But Adam Sandler was especially enthusiastic about the Blues fans. “I couldn’t believe how well everyone sang, in the right pitch,” he said in an interview in 2009. “They were rough men who sang softly.” He has been a Chelsea supporter ever since.
Adam Sandler not only enjoys watching sports, but is also passionate about playing basketball. And not just in his New York home. Whenever he is out and about in a city, he asks where the best places to throw balls are. The highest-paid actor of 2023 is considered one of the most relatable superstars ever.
This was also the case on his current trip to London. Sandler made a surprise appearance at a west London leisure center over the weekend and played basketball with a few stunned boys. On TikTok a teammate posted a video of the distinguished visitor.
