Additional and unofficial information on the PlayStation 5 Pro has leaked

As always with unofficial sources, we must remain suspicious of the veracity of the technical specifications of the probable PS5 Pro – codenamed Trinity –, revealed by a certain Moore’s Law is Dead and confirmed by Tom Henderson. Unsurprisingly, these sources mention the most powerful home console produced by Sony. If the CPU remains the same, with a High CPU Frequency Mode feature supposed to accelerate the calculation speed by around 10%, the GPU (basically, which should be used to improve the visual rendering of games) has been redesigned to provide better performance. We will pass on abstruse figures such as the number of teraflops planned or even a ray tracing multiplied by 2 or 3, or even 4 in some cases to get to the heart of the problem: the PS5 Pro would be 45% more powerful (in this area, in any case) than its predecessor.

Let us point out that the new home console would also include a method ofupscaling — or rendering optimization — and reduction ofaliasing — the staircase effect — called PSSR for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. And as AI interferes almost everywhere, it is not surprising to find it in this PS5 Pro, where it will of course be used to improve general performance. Rumors also mention a detachable disc drive, like on the recently released PS5 slims.

More interesting, the various leaks mainly evoke a release date. Let’s not beat around the bush, the PS5 Pro would be expected at the very end of 2024. However, players may have to wait until 2025 due to the lack of exclusive games that would be released at that time. But let us repeat, without official confirmation, this information remains subject to caution and therefore cannot be taken at face value. Speaking of money, no price has been mentioned yet.
