It is on the occasion of the Vélo In Paris festival, organized at the Parc Floral in the capital, that Angell Mobility unveils two new electric bikes: the Rapide Core and Rapide+, which now coexist with the M Rapide and S Rapide . This new pair benefits above all from the brand’s industrial advances, including Frandroid became aware in an official press release.

These Angell Rapide Core and Angel Rapide+ rely, for example, on an entire reworked electronic system: the manufacturer thus guarantees more reliability. New controller, new BMS (battery management system) coupled with anti-deep discharge safety, new cells for an extended lifespan or even new connector, Angell has visibly optimized its processes.

A common basis

Thanks to a new frame bonding technique, the manufacturer promises great resistance for its products. Angell doesn’t stop there by updating a whole series of equipment: pedals, kickstand, mudguards and chain guard, all have been replaced by new models.

The Rapide Core and Rapide+ have several technical elements in common. Here is the list:

  • Rear motor with 32 Nm of torque;
  • 252 Wh battery, with integrated lights, brake light function and indicators;
  • Single-speed transmission with chain;
  • Tektro hydraulic disc brakes;
  • Selle Royal Essenza and Grip Angell;
  • Integrated screen, GPS, anti-theft alarm, geolocation, fall alert device.

For its part, the Angell Rapide Core opts for 27.5-inch Aero rims and Duro brand tires. Available in a single Polar White color, it has chosen to do without any equipment (mudguards, kickstand), available as an option. Its weight reaches 16 kg in an open frame, compared to 16.5 kg in a closed frame, all with powder paint (less polluting).

The cheapest in the range

Its price is interesting in more than one way: 2240 euros, which makes it the most affordable electric bike in Angell’s range. In addition, this VAE is available for rental at 99 euros per month via the Motto service.

The Angell Rapide+ is also based on 27.5-inch Mach1 rims, but above all, it is more generous in terms of equipment. As standard, count on a chain guard, mudguards made in France and an Ursus kickstand made in Italy. The paint is not the same: it is liquid, with three layers.

Availability mid-May

The weight also increases slightly: 17 kg in open frame, 16.5 kg in closed frame, with two colors to choose from (Onyx Black and Sand Beige). Its price also climbs: 2740 euros, without any rental offer, but with Angell Back insurance (stolen bike, replaced bike) provided free of charge.

The Angell Rapide Core and Rapide+ will be available online and in a selective network of resellers – the brand does not specify which ones – from May 15. The first deliveries will take place in June.
