Adidas launches the “rules leggings”

The rules still force some people to deprive themselves of activities such as sports. Adidas remedies this taboo by designing specific leggings for physical exercise during menstruation.

In France, the combination between sport and menstruation is still very taboo, even at the level of the professional sphere, as underlined in this month of June 2021 the French judokate Clarisse Agbégnénou.

And when swimming at school, how many were singled out? Fortunately, today period swimwear exists. Following this same idea, Adidas is finally launching leggings dedicated to menstruation sport. Enough to help more than one young adolescent and adult on a daily basis.

Menstrual leggings to eliminate barriers

According to a study by theIfop, the first quality sought to adopt a new habit of hygienic protection is comfort, up to 82%. 67% of the women questioned declared that they wear a tight-fitting, close-fitting stocking during their period The demand is therefore very present and it is the German brand that is positioned first, offering menstruating people a way to play sports when they want and without worrying about rules leakage during sports practice. This garment could even convince the 33% of women who do not dare to wear tight-fitting stockings during this period.

We want more period leggings!

How it works ? The “TechFit Period Proof” model features multiple layers of fabric and a membrane to more effectively absorb period leaks. Based on Adidas’ new Flow Shield technology, it is worn in addition to other hygienic protection, such as period panties.

The brand did not stop at the design of its leggings and is also teaming up with sports teachers as well as Dr Georgie Bruinvels, a researcher in sports science, to fight against the taboo of the rules in the middle. However, there remains a limit, the price of this new garment. Sold up to 45 euros for the shorts and to 65 euros for the leggings, Adidas’ new technology is still far from being accessible to everyone. But the brand could well pave the way for its competitors on the path to inclusiveness, including during the rules.
