Adobe’s generative AI tools like Generative Fill have completely transformed the practice of photo editing. Adobe is now trying to do the same thing for audio with its new AI-powered audio editing platform.
This Wednesday, Adobe’s research team unveiled an AI music editing and generation tool, Project Music GenAI Control. This tool allows music to be generated from text requests: the AI then plays the role of music co-creator.
Like other music generators, Project Music GenAI Control allows you to obtain a new music track in a few seconds, in response to a simple request in the form of a few words. For example, you can ask the AI to generate “powerful rock”, “electro that brings joy”, or even “intense hip-hop”. It is also possible to reference a melody in your request.
Tools for editing the audio track
One of the strong points of Adobe’s solution is that it is possible to adjust the track obtained on several criteria. In particular, you can modify its intensity, its tempo, its structure or even the patterns that repeat in the song. And this, directly within your workflow, as shown in the video Adobe published on X:
It is also possible to ask the platform to loop the audio, fade in or extend a track. These features are particularly useful for video content creators, who often struggle to find pieces that match the length and needs of their videos.
A precise tool
“What’s interesting about these new tools is that they don’t just generate audio. They also offer creators the same type of in-depth controls as Photoshop to shape, adjust and edit their pieces,” points out Nicholas Bryan of Adobe Research. “It’s the equivalent of pixel-perfect control, but for music. »
Adobe Research is working on the development of the Music GenAI Control project in collaboration with the University of California San Diego. The tool is therefore not yet accessible to the public.
Until its launch, if you want to try an AI music generator, there are solutions from Google, Music FX, and from Stability AI, Stable Audio.
